fly fishing and not so fly fishing hawaii:

girl power.

this past week was filled with good fun "fourth of july" fishing marked by some serious girl power.  sean checked in with a whitey (trevally) he caught on monday using a surface streamer and his trusty sage bass rod.  i took out my sage 6126-4 one rod again for a little pre-fourth of july bombing on wednesday with doug and lost brian.  we spanked some bones that day.  then on the fourth, the bay boys (sean, deano, and lost brian) got the beat down by brian’s girlfriend michelle while matt and i took long time friend of nwff roy and his granddaughter ezri out to the lake.  apparently gramps taught ezri well.  the girl really knows her way around a spinning rod and she conked a bunch of fish before the bite was over.  pretty impressive.

the weather was unbelievable all week, the fishing was good (as it should be in the summer), and the girls did well pounding some fish.  a perfect way to start this july.  the summer is rollin’ right along folks and it is turning out to be quite a good one.  hope everyone out there is taking advantage... i’ll see you on the water.

the boy looks pretty happy... the whitey not so much.

didn't get quite enough of fishing the sage 6126-4 one rod the last time so i took it out for another fish...

and fish it did.

lots and lots of these little micros around lately. despite being small they are, in my book, quite fun to catch.  look at that tail.  that's a serious motor for a fish that size.

then the fourth of july 2013 was all about the girls.

michelle and her omilu (bluefin trevally).

then she got an awa a'ua (ladyfish).  what can i say brian, sometimes like that.

meanwhile, young ezri was doing some damage of her own on the lake.

not to be completely outdone, we all got in a few licks of our own.  granpa roy with one of his many peacocks.

ezri shows off her peacock while gramps is hooked up in back.

later ezri closed the book on the rest of us with this cat.  as you may already know, i do like the cat.

girl power, sweet sweet fly rods, good friends, fabulous weather, and a few fish here and there.  really, what else do you need in life.  absolute good times.

clay.
