fly fishing hawaii:

once more into the fracus and the sean report.

went back to the lake today for a little more fooling around.  went with surfa boy craig and shimano/loomis rep garret.  the lake was similar to the other day.  some small tucs in the woods, a couple of bleugs (bluegill) and not much else.  we fished the loomis whisper creek 7'9" 3wt. as well as the sage bluegill and smallmouth rods.  the whisper creek was a nice little “wrist rocket” very similar to the sage txl.  both are fantastic red devil rods and are a blast when bigger peacocks latch on (as craig found out on “the one that got away”).  the bluegill and smallmouth rods by sage are the all around go to tools on the lake.  this series of sage rods cast streamers and poppers with the greatest of ease and pinpoint accuracy while maintaining the fun level of “lake size” fish.

the rain started to pour down in the afternoon and that appeared to turn the fish on a bit.  we got into some pretty good, albeit tough, busting fish and the guys managed to get a few two pound schoolies with spinning tackle and kastmasters.

in other more salty pursuits, sean checked in with a kbay report from monday.  according to sean it was pretty slim pickin's on that day but he and nankos mike squeezed out a rat and a small whitey.

that’s about it...  for now it’s back to pounding for me.  i’ll see you peeps on the water hopefully hooked up and happy.

another day, another chance to tweak and test new flies.  these little guys approved of the prototypes.

little peacocks and the sage bluegill rod... goooood.

craig pulled these two schoolies from the rain bust.

the spoils of a monday pound at kbay.

as for me... i'm all about the whisper creek and the good times.

clay.
