fly fishing hawaii:

bones in the salt and bamboo on the lake (part II).

then i hooked a few devils on the bamboo rod.

beautiful setup for beautiful fish.

then dean got a hold of the bamboo and i couldn't get it back.

so i picked up my "go to" lake rod, the glx 5wt. and hooked this tilapia while searching for tucs.

i have caught tilapia on the fly on kauai, but i have never caught one here on the lake.  i was stoked that this guy bit.

dean finds the peacocks... a schoolie.

the bite is on.  i hook a peacock on the bamboo rod and dean gets a red devil.  the first double of the day.

if you know tucs, you  know when they're on, they're on!  sweet fish on a sweet sweet setup.  doesn't get better than that.

another nice schoolie for the bamboo.

the second double of the day.  the bigger fish is sporting the "summer colors" of the spawn.

dean with the last fish of the day and it's a good one... let's go home.

good gear, good fishing, good friends, and as always good times.

clay.
