Christmas Island 2016

Once again it's back to the island for us.

And once again the Villages lodge was our home for the week.

Everyday starts out with breakfast, making your lunch, and jumping in the boat before the sun comes up.

We really put an emphasis on fishing for triggerfish this year.

They were spookier than in previous trips, and they're always tough to catch.

We still got a few to hand.

ET somehow found one on the sand and caught it with a 4wt. I have trouble with a 9wt.

Another thing we did this time was venturing outside the lagoon for the adult milkfish.

Long casts and ultra sharp hooks are necessary for these hard fighters.

We also caught a few offshore fish, large and small.

Up early every morning.

Trevally are always on the menu when the tide is right.

Bonefish are always abundant.

After over a dozen trips, this beautiful golden trevally was a first for Rick.

After all that fishing it was time to blow off some steam with the guide crew.

The plane ride back home is the time to catch up on sleep.

Big mahalos to all the great folks at the Villages lodge for making our trip such a success! If you're interested in taking a trip to Christmas, please call or email anytime.
